Bought me a new beater and was reasearching tuning options and ran accross megasquirt. began wondering if it could be used on a 7.3. did some searching and found one thread on the subject from back in 06 or 2010 that didnt give much info. just curious if it would be a viable option or if anyone has tried it?

It is a pretty cool read.

The transducer makes it to big and I bet it would hit the rocker arms.

I wonder if that makes a 6.4 swap more possible

I'm guessing that is what makes a common rail conversion possible on a 7.3. I suppose you could also swap in a 6.4 and run it from 7.3 electronics in the same way, but I don't know many 7.3 owners who would do that.

I'm wondering if they make or can make the transducer with different dimensions.

the thread in the other forum has some discussion on pressure transducer/glow plugs from a VW so you can monitor cylinder pressure

Last year at TS swamps had a standalone PCM for a 6.4 mounted in a idm case. They said they were working on it and was planning to use a megasquirt to tune it. I haven't heard anymore about it but hopefully it works out.
