Noticed on another site a thread trashing the Melling LPOP... I had one on the green motor, have one on this Yellow motor.

First thing I noticed when I fired this thing up is more LPO... I guess time will tell if it gives me any issues, but thus far I am happy.

Anyone have any other experances?

I've got a Melling on my "new" engine. And i know its comparing apples to oranges going from my old engine to the "new" one, but it starts up way quicker, and the stock LPO idiot gauge shows pressure almost instantly, whereas there was a delay on my old engine with the stock LPOP.

Wheres the thread with people bashing it?

Have one and it runs great. I would love to here the tech of what is bad about it. They are about as simple a device as can be. If the tolerances and metallurgy is good I can not see how there is anything that's going to make it have issues.

Just talk about how it leaks oil from the main damper seal...

I've honestly never heard a bad thing about it, so was rather surprised.

I have the ****tiest luck with my truck, but so far i don't have a leak there, so they can't be that bad. *knock on wood* LOL I also used the Melling housing, whereas i've seen a lot of guys use the factory housings.

The 2 don't interchange, compare them 2 side by side.
Big difference between the 2.

No they do not. They are different inner diameters if I recall when I had them both in hand during the install. Besides even if you could why use the old housing that may be worn etc...instead of a new one thats been machined to the gear set that came with it?

Here's a pic side by side

Put 15k on one engine with one swapped it to another engine with no issues yet. Hell even reused the old front seals with no leaks to date

One guy blames a LPOP, then the whole site jumps on that wagon....what a surprise.
