On the drive home this morning I noticed my EGTs dropping from 500-550 cruising, down to anywhere between 92-161 degrees. No codes, trucks running fine. Is it a probe going bad, if so how hard is it to change it? Thanks

check the pyro settings in the mini maxx and see if it is on " pyro 1"
i have seen it revert to H&S pyro at random before-mostly on dodges tho.

otherwise, your probe could be going bad and it is a 15 min job to change. best access is to pull the passenger inner fender. you will see where it threads into the up pipe. as far as the electrical connector, it is easier to get it from under the hood over the passenger valve cover.

Careful not to break or strip the sensor. Probably gonna have to get some heat on it and pb blaster and work it back and forth. We had to do heat and blaster when we just took the pyro out of the 6.4 up-pipes and put it in the 6.0 pipes to run 6.0 manifolds on the 6.4. Just be careful. Since you have a bad probe might be worth using a socket and cutting the wires off to get the old one out.

Hey Stroked777 what was the verdict on this. I believe I am having the same issue.
Pyro 2 stays at 92 no matter what and Pyro 1 acts just like yours did, no codes and runs great from what I can tell.

Hurting your brain thinking about it so much. Is go to ford for it. You get what you pay for with this stuff. Napa one you'll probably be doing it again soon.

Napa probably doesn't even carry it, but if they did, I'd just buy it from Ford. There are lots of places where you can buy OEM Ford parts at wholesale.

I got mine from ford. But be prepared, I broke the sensor off in my up pipe and had to remove it to drill it out, turned a 15 min job in to a few hour job, had to remove the down pipe (thank god for a two piece after market one) to get the up pipe out

O, Well dang. I will start applying the PB Blaster now. should give it good amount of time to work it self in before the part gets here.
Thanks for the heads up.

It'll be fine. PB actually evaporates. What I would do is start hitting it with PB at the end of the day when you get home while everything is good and hot. Quench that fitting with PB a few days in a row, and when it's time to remove it, cut the lead and/or break the probe off at the base so that you can get a six pointed socket on it

Will do, thanks for the heads up.
Stink or not better then breaking something IMO.

One more question though. If the pyro 1 sensor is in the up pipe behind the right fender.
what about pyro 2, that one reads 92° no matter what.
Which one do I need to change to fix that?
