Yes. A vin specific MCC Unlock Code is required to upload custom tunes to your Mini Maxx. It's worth it though. I'm pleased with my Gearhead tunes...

I think so... It's hard for me to give exact numbers because I'll try to get good MPG's for a couple days after filling up, but then I'll turn off the fuel economy gauge and revert back to poor driving habits. However, I can get over 14 MPG driving 100% in the city (stop & go) on 38's with 3.55 gears when I do try. My fuel economy readings were inaccurate when I used H&S tunes because my tires weren't calibrated yet, but I know for sure that I'm getting better MPG's now than I was stock. I tried going back to H&S tunes recently for the low boost fueling option, but I couldn't stand it for more than a few days. The lack of drivability compared to GearHead tunes was like night and day. The pedal felt completely different. Anyway, I would be very surprised if your fuel economy doesn't improve...

No, I don't think so. It doesn't give me the 1-5 option for smoke output like H&S does. This is for boost fueling, not turbo boost. In regards to turbo boost, I keep my truck on the performance setting and the boost will max out at 28-29 psi, which is fine for me. It only reaches that high at full throttle. You may not want to maintain 29 psi for a long period of time while towing or something.

it really depends on the conditions your driving in too... I drive at 75mph (120km/h) in Alberta on mostly flat highways for 500+km and I average around 17-18mpg and sometimes less if their is a headwind. If I mix up the driving between highway and town I'm only probably around 12-13mpg. Breaking in the engine properly will determine possible fuel mileage outcomes I believe. I hooked up a 10000lb as soon as I hit 1500km and I beat on the truck to build up some heat and seat the critical engine compenants. I did this every few days for 2 weeks straight. I don't know if that contributed to getting better mileage or not but I think it has alteast a little to do with it. I would suggest maybe hooking up to a 10000lb trailer if available and do some pulling to possibly clean out any excess soot buildup from the stock emissions equipment. Get the truck good and warm and see if that helps at all. Maybe try a cetane booster too since Canadian Diesel is nowhere near as good as American diesel. Be patient and hopefully you see some better results.
