I could have sworn that I read somewhere about guys liking a 750-800RPM idle with a ZF5 in our trucks. I can't find anything about it again to reread, and don't remember where I saw it.. Anybody care to chime in?

I think that was for certain 94's that were reprogrammed to do it. I'll have to look for the TSB and report back. Other than that you could use the factory AIC, DIY AIC, etc.

Added in edit: I've attached the TSB. Cheers!

Patrick,

I mean guys actually having the idle set at 750-800 all the time to smooth out the clutch disengagement.

I don't see any advantage to it. I CAN idle the truck off the line, but generally I give it a few more RPMs before taking off. If I had to do a high idle with a chip, it would be about 1200 RPM for the faster warmup in winter and better AC at a standstill in summer. Cheers!

Any tuner can turn the base idle up on all tunes about 100 rpms. It helps a lot of guys with 35s+ tires with 3.73s.
