Well I know allot of people have been wanting some solid towing data from the MTW stage 2 turbos so here it is. I was invited down to the dyno event that was down in Georgia this past Saturday and Nate and myself decided that instead of driving two trucks we would just put his truck on a gooseneck trailer and have me pull it down there and back from his house in Tennessee. So Friday I get to Nate's and Adrian shows up and they decide to put a stage 2 turbo with billet wheel on my truck to get some tow data. I "DID NOT HAVE THE TUNE MODIFIED FOR THE TURBO." I ran a 50hp tow tune with Jake brake from Vivian.

When we finally got Nate's truck loaded on the trailer after some disasters I got in the truck and took of and the first thing that I though was wow this truck has never spooled this fast. I could not believe that with a 16k load on the truck it almost took off like it did with the stock turbo and a 5k load behind it. So then we get on the highway and that is when the stage 2 really started to show just how impressive it was. I set the cruise at 75mph and even on big hill the truck almost never even had to unlock the converter to hold cruising speed. Cruising the EGT hovered around 750 and pullng big hills I never got it to break 1000. Boost while cruising hovered between 6-8 psi and let me tell you what this turbo would hold 28psi like it was its job and keep in mind this is only on a 50hp tune written for the stock turbo. I also did some data logging and ran the numbers and the stock turbo has to build TWICE as much boost as the stage 2 to flow the same amount of air and that is based off of boost, MAP, and MAF. For those wondering about backpressure I recently installed a backpressue gauge in my truck and after the stage 2 gets to about 8 psi of boost the backpressure to boost ratio stays very very close to a 1:1. As far as lag I can honestly say it was pretty non existent.

I wish I could of got dyno numbers but my truck decided it want to drop the number 8 injector in Alabama. I can not say what the peak boost of this turbo would of been with my race tune because I had to put my stock turbo back on to come home as the stage 2 was not my turbo to keep. I hope this review helps answer some question people had about this turbo and feel free to ask me anything you want to know. Also keep watching for another review from me soon as I was so impressed with this turbo I decided I am going to buy a hybrid from Adrian to see how it compares to this turbo. As far as tuning goes for the stage 2 Yes you will see some gains by having your tunes rewrote for it, but do you need to? Absolutely not this turbo runs 100 percent perfect on stock turbo tuning, drops EGT's, and increases power. Oh ya I almost forgot the intake whistle on this turbo is insane. I almost thought it was going to take flight and leave my truck is sounded so much like a jet spooling up lol.

Good info! Id like to see some daily driver type reviews for this as well...im very interested in getting a Stage 2 in the near future, but would like to hear from someone who is daily driving/torturing the turbo.
As far as the hybrid goes, im sure youll be happy. One of the guys from holderdown in WV put one on his truck and is loving it
