My dads 6.4 is making a noise

Recently my dads work truck has been making kinda like a squeal noise. It sounds like its coming from the front. It's not the idler pulley he just had that replace. I was thinking mayb a bent pushrod. I can't hear it driving but idling u can hear it. Ill give a vid Monday of it. Just kinda at a dead end. Truck works perfectly fine.

Mine had a squeal to it when i had a belt going bad. Just my experience. How many miles on it?

Alrite. Not sure if they replaced the belts when they did his idler pulley. Has 125,000 miles. It's coming from the passengers side tho

Mine had 128,000 when my belt started to go. And it sucked to replace. Really no good advice, just time and patience.

i had to replace my belt a few weeks ago. 98k on my truck. putting on a belt really isnt bad if the egr coolers are removed. take off the top of the fan shroud and work the belt around the fan...thats the worst part. just take your time if it is the belt. a good way to see if it is for sure the belt is to take a cup of water and dump on the belt itself while the truck is idling. if the "squeal" goes away then it needs a belt

When I did my build, I had to replace the tensioner as well as the the pulley that is stationary. Just might want to look at the pulley on the passenger side there and see if it is starting to bind up. Good luck.

^^ Yup, tensioner on mine as well (another thread here I think) and then new belt to make sure the sound didn't come back.
