The enclosure acts as a heat sink for the electronics inside and is made of an aluminum alloy for its heat transfer properties. If you paint it, it insulates the enclosure resulting in higher temperature for the electronics. The CM2100 ECM connectors have a bolt to hold them in place. Do not ever over tighten or force that bolt.
