Need help, no start, no rail pressure

Hey Psa, I need some help. I purchased a complete used engine, got it put in, but cannot get any rail pressure. I've bled the system, using Ids to turn on the lp pump, cracking both lines on the fuel cooler. Have great flow there, but rail pressure only shows ~23 psi. Took the hp line off at the left head and no fuel when cranking. What am I missing? No codes other then low icp while gm ranking. Thanks

Is the pump from your old engine?

No it's one that shipped with the engine.

Might try swapping pumps. Maybe for some reason the pump has some major issues.

Got it, disabled the glow plugs and ran it off starting fluid for a min and it took right off. Thanks psa

Careful with the starting fluid, rough on the pistons. Pump just wasnt getting the needed fuel then?

Don't know for sure, but I'm thinking more along the lines of more rpm to clear the air out of the system

Had to do this before. If you use starting fluid correctly on these engines it's fine.

I know it's a different beast but we had to do that to a 6.0 at our shop to get all the air out. Just ran it on ether for 15-30 seconds and then it stayed running on it's own
