need some help with a trans

Last year at a truck pull I pulled twice second time the trans acted funny like it fell outta gear and it puked fluid out of the dipstick tube however the fluid doesnt appear to be burnt or anything else truck still has all forward gears but doesnt have reverse or park. Figureing it was the shift lever i got underneath it and manually tried to shift it but with no luck the truck is stuck in gear all gears are now forward including park but it doesnt seem like its holding them either but it will run thru them all and even hit OD and run 60 down the road just fine so im a bit lost on what I should be looking for as I dont know much of anything about transmissions Im probably going to pull it out today but when I do what should I look for other than the obvious of seeing if theres any important parts in the pan. Last tranny this truck ate the tranny it left me with damn near everything inside the tranny laying in the pan but I still had 1st and reverse for gears

well, if it won't go into park, I'd say the parking pawl on the shift linkage inside the case would be a good place to start looking..

I don't do much with transmissions other than hand the keys to my buddy Joe and tell him how much money I have to spend..
