Hey guys. I just bought a 08 6.4 and it's going into the shop for a disappearing coolant issue and a bullydog install. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what are things to look for in the 6.4. It has 170k and has a couple interior issues as well. Any suggestions and advice would be much appreciated

I'm familiar with the bullydog brand and I use my trucks in the patch so we've found with other tuners at a similar price that they've killed motors before

if you are planning a dpf delete, H&S tuners or off road SCT tuners may be your best bet. the ability to run custom tunes is awesome. big, clean power.

i personally wouldnt run a tuner on it unless its deleted. it runs hot and plugs the dpf sooner, nevermind the increased number of regens. we did it to two of our trucks and it was a mistake. they did all kids of funky things from shutting down randomly to locking up the computer.
btw your coolant loss may be a failed egr cooler as well. all the more reason to delete because that could cause a hydrolock situation.

i sent you a pm...

What this guy said. I highly recommend not putting a Bullydog on it and save your money until you can get a dpf delete H&S. Also I've witnessed a Bullydog destroy two 5r110 transmissions...

Sent from a Cummins plant, driving a TDI, wishing it was a Powerstroke

Please don't destroy that truck with a bullydog tuner. Those tuners are at the very bottom of the junk pile.

Aside from that, sounds like a blown head gasket or cracked head. Or maybe a cavitated front cover.

You are much further ahead to spend money on quality tuning and deleting it as soon as possible. Hell. If its blown gaskets or bad heads just delete everything and stud it and you're set for a while. Take a close look at the pistons when the heads are off too. Look for any signs of cracking.
