I've finally got approval from the finance officer (wife) to get some new wheels and tires:clapping:. I would like to stay with a 17" wheel, but I thought I've heard that you have to have certain backspcing on aftermarket 17's. Anyone have any idea if this is true and if so, what backspacing should I be looking for? I'm thinking I want machined/black wheels, just concerned about chipping and having to polish all the time. Maybe the ProComp 8101's, or the chrome ProComp 6031's.
Second question is about tire size. I'm installing a 2.5"front leveling kit and adding 1" in the rear as well. I'm trying to decide between 33's and 35's. I really want the 35's, but I'm worried about power loss. The tires I'm currently running are the metric equivalent of a 32x10.50. Would the 35x12.50's have a huge negative effect on power and fuel mileage? I think on a truck this size the 33's would look small.
Any input will be appreciated. BTW, she's also letting me get my S&B intake and a Diamond Eye 4" turbo back exhaust, so maybe the gains from those will cancel out any power loss with the 35's if I go that route. Just tell me what you guys think.
