Howdy everyone, my name is Zach. I just bought my first diesel a few months ago and have put 10k miles on it. I am ready to start upgrading and having fun. My truck is a 2011 F250 6.7 with 50k miles on it. I rarely tow and when I do, its under 10k lbs. My daily commute is either 40 miles or 400 miles so MPG is pretty important.

What I was thinking about doing, please give advice, suggestions, criticism, etc.

SCT Livewire
S&B Intake
EGR delete kit (Brand not determined yet)
Either a FloPro Delete Pipe or a 4" with muffler. I want to keep stock tailpipe to hopefully keep the Ecopolice at bay.
(Total = $1700)

This was my entire shopping list until I ran across Midwest Diesel's '15 turbo kit. I now want to add this to the list. I justify it because of the early '11 turbos are prone to failure.
(Total = $3000)

Do I need custom tuning for all these upgrades plus the '15 turbo or will the canned SCT tunes be enough? Do I need to upgrade my CP4 to the '15 CP4.2? It flows better and I am scared to death of my current CP4 grenading into my engine.

Advice?

I can say on the turbo it's hit or miss with our trucks. Some people blow multiple turbos and some don't ever blow up one.
I have an early 2011, bought at 73K miles, deleted at 100K and I'm at 120K right now. I definitely don't baby my truck but I also keep up on the maintenance, let it cool down after hot rodding around town and all.
I've got H&S Mini Maxx with 5" straight pipe Down Pipe back to a 7" stack(absolutely love it) with the EGR still in place(soon to be deleted) with the No Limit 5" intake which is amazing. I have custom tunes from Matt@Gearhead and you can't go wrong with his tunes. The truck hardly smoked before that intake and now it only "hazes" at WOT. The truck is plenty fast just with those mods. But I am looking into getting a modded 2015 turbo or a ball bearing and adding the fuel down the road because who doesn't want more horsepower? Mainly to alleviate the stock turbo leaving me stranded out in the boonies though.

If I were doing it all again I would get an H&S Mini Maxx in a heartbeat. And the exact same mods/tuning. It's a completely different truck once deleted with the canned tunes, then it just keeps getting better with every mod.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge but why would you buy a Mini Max if you are going with custom tunes? It appears that the only advantage that it has over the SCT Livewire would be shift on the fly.

Mini maxx and custom mcc tuning equals total control. And I'd say maybe ditch the s&b for a no limit fab intake or an intake from absolute performance and get an egr delete from either of those company's as well.
