Hi all, I have a 97 f250 with 175,000 miles and just did some changes because it was all stock. I added a k&n filter intake with a 5 inch diamoneye exhaust. I did install a TS 6 pos. Switch I bought from a place called advanced diesel fuel the Internet.
It doesn't build much boost over 14 to 15 lbs of boost and it takes quite awhile too get it at that point even with this chip in the so called 140 hp increase. Wondering if it needs a intercooler and a turbo upgrade? Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not pulling, just a daily driver but would like more power.

First I am sorry to tell you but the k&n filter sucks. They are known to allow air to bypass the filter and the filter is horrible.

Second, I would bet that you have stock ts tunes on your chip. While better than nothing, they are not that great and there are much better options out there. The good news is if you switch to a different tuner, most of them can put their tunes on the ts chip you already bought.

Third, it sounds like you have some other issues going on, as I would expect better performance from what you have done than what you are reporting. I would look for boost leaks and exhaust leaks pre turbo.

I would start there before I put a turbo or intercooler on the truck. Nonce you figure out what is going on, then you can look into other mods to help increase power and reliability.

Also welcome!!!! Spend some time doing some reading on here and it will help you greatly. Most of the best minds in the powerstroke aftermarket are on this site and there is a TON of good info here.

You also will not see a 140hp increase the max tunes for a stock injectored obs truck is 80hp tunes as the obs trucks have small 90cc injectors. The cali trucks did have 120cc split shots. With a good tune even a stock injector truck should come to life and boost should be over 20ish

Get an intercooler, custom tunes, and fix your boost leaks. Oh and rake that k&n filter off and throw it away. Get a 6637 style filter on it instead.

Personally Id be looking for some 160cc injectors and a nozzle ipgrade as your injectors are sized for a golf cart.

Dig around thru the threads of the tuners to learn about them. You may also want to look at locations to find a tuner that is close to you for faster turn around. If you are really serious I would return or sell the TS chip and buy a hydra chip as new tunes can be emailed to you and you load them without even removing the chip.
