Looking to put together a good nitrous setup. Nothing too insane so we can keep the rods in the block for a little while still.... Right now I just have a real small zex solenoid and -3 lines. What is a good solenoid to look at and what size line should I be using from bottle -> solenoid and solenoid -> nozzle? New to messing with nitrous so just looking for some advice. Also nozzle options?? what is recommended? Going to keep it simple just on a pushbutton just for the dyno occasionally and at the track. Thanks!

I have two zex .125 solenoids with a -6 feeding them. One plumbed into the hot side pipe and the other in the intake elbow. Only use second stage(intake elbow) when needed, one stage is .074 jet and the other .088. I had a -3 line but wasn't big enough to feed both solenoids. :naughty:

im in i wana know the same thing

You just need that setup that craig has on his truck... I mean ya got billet rods LOL LOL

I just want to run one stage for now. Not ready to blow it up... YET. What size lines do you have running from your solenoids to your nozzles? I was planning on doing -4 or -6 to the solenoid then wasn't sure what all I should use after that. Another big question I have is what is the difference in running a bigger or smaller solenoid with the same size lines and jet? Is there going to be a big difference? Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm new to nitrous

I think the line from my solenoids to the nozzles are -3 but I think they may be smaller, not sure on advantages on bigger solenoids besides being able to run more nitrous through them. Maybe more guys will chime in, I don't know much about different setups besides the one I have on my truck. Depending on the outlet of the bottle you have is gonna have an effect on how much nitrous you get to the solenoids obviously, I know my -3 line and zex bottle with the -3 outlet wouldn't feed both solenoids, so I have to use a NX bottle with -6 outlet.

Ok. Appreciate the insight still. Clearly whatever you have on your truck is working well (I'd say) seems to be running real well...

Bringing this back up. Thinking about getting the NX lightning .125 solenoid. Planning on running -6 line from bottle to solenoid, and -3 or -4 line from solenoid to nozzle. Any suggestions there?

That's what I run. I have -6 from te bottle. Splits 12" Into 2 .125 solenoids and is -4 or -3 to each nozzle.
I've only ever used it on the dyno. Just one single .062 so far. In thinking of doing a .052 as My fist stage and a .088 as my second.

Keep in mind. .052 and .088 would NOT equate to a single .140.

how much power are you picking up with the .062 jet and the .125 solenoid?

Hard to say. Only done one pull on the dyno and didn't do fuel only. It definitely woke it up. If I were to guess. 50hp ish

Damn thats not much at all. We were picking up about 50hp with mine with a small zex solenoid with -3 line and a nozzle with no jet being sprayed PRE turbo... Looking for like 150hp worth of spray...

-4 from the solenoid. biggest jet on a -3 is 78 iirc. biggest jet on a -4 is .125

That's a pretty close guess. My favorite kit is the nitrous express nxd4000 dual stage, progressively controlled system although many other good ones are out there. Running two .120 solenoids wide open, I was able to pick up almost 500 rwhp. More stages = more control, especially with a computer in charge. That 500 hp shot came on smooth as silk because it was controlled properly. Nitrous is only dangerous if you don't educate yourself before you use it. That same setup I ran could easily be dialed back to a 25 hp shot with tiny nozzles. When choosing nozzle size, remember to measure the surface area πr2 to compare sizes, not the diameter alone.

Agreed. Progressive controller is the only way to go if you're gonna try and run more than just a single stage. I ran 4 stages with .120 jets in each, just used the controller to ramp it all in

You were the first person who came to mind LOL (followed closely by Zane, then the entire Banks racing division) when I was thinking of other brands of setups. The nos touch screen is really cool. I wish my setup had one.

-4 it is then. Not looking to go crazy with multiple stages and progressive controls and stuff here... Just looking to pick up 125-150hp for on the dyno and maybe on the track

Getting ready to order stuff soon. Thinking the NX .125 lightning solenoid. Any suggestions on what nozzle to get?
