hi

long term lurker but now need help

I've had a few injector problems stemming from inadequate torque. I removed both injectors, re-ringed them..cleaned out the bores, checked to make sure no old copper o rings stayed behind, and re installed.

now, the truck will not start even after being plugged in for 6 hours. i scanned while cranking and had icp of 700 and climbing, cranking speed of 140 rpm.

the tach has been wrapped around to the right and is frozen pointing straight down.

i ohmed the glow plugs through the uvch and had readings from .6 to 1.0 +-.

i had near battery voltage to the harness from the stancor relay.

the truck passes white fuel smoke as it cranks...but no go.

where to i go next? i need this truck to run badly.

Not enough rpm to start it.. boost with a jump box or charger. If that doesnt work then your starter is prolly giving up life.

live life full throttle

if you replaced injectors we'll assume you purged the fuel and oil out of the cylinder.
Fully charge the batteries. Cycle the ignition w/ the 81 pin harness disconnected. You do not want fuel dumping into the cylinders when you now have air in both the oil and fuel system in the heads.

You'll have to be patient, use a battery charger and let the fuel pump get fuel fully into the heads and injectors. The air in the hpop oil system in the heads may take a little longer. But near dead batteries won't help. I had to do several cycles of the fuel system and several disconnected cranking to get some oil back into the heads. I had two other vehicles jumped to me and it took several attempts, over several minutes to finally start and it ran very rough at first.

good luck.

Disconnect the batteries, charge them & take them to a parts store that can load test the cranking amparage . Sounds like 1 of the 2 is bad. They need to be tested independently. If they check ok. Then have the parts store test the alternator under load to see if the regulator is bad.
