I don't think you'll see too much improvement with stock fuel plungers.

I am really really interested in a set of baby swamps or stage ones, but I saw this and didn't think it was possible . I figured if it was it would already have been done many times for the price lol

The fact is there is so much more to an effecient balanced set of injectors than nozzles. And the quality of the work on the nozzles is a huge factor too.
In my experience, a perfect set of small injectors will make a better driving experience than a slobbery poorly built set of injectors that have a higher flow rate. 90% of fuel injection reman people can't do more than know they work when they are together.
Let me give an example. I was fixing up a nice little F250 for one of my foremen. After checking compression we decided we didn't have time to work on it, we were behind on revenue equipment much less supervisor trucks, so we took it to a known diesel shop who agreed the the 160,000 mile injectors were worn. Long story short we got it back ran about the same, hazing at idle and missing a bit at times. After a long investigation of their supplier (big reman co in the LA area) and a lot of learning thru a call or two to Swamps (mostly because it ran worse with a Swamps HVHF IDM) I learned the reman company did not have clue of things like armature clearance, poppet valves, etc. When I informed them the injectors weren't right they said they would not warranty them for armature clearance, poppet valves, etc. because they didn't have a way to check! Long story short it was an expensive lesson on picking an injector builder that truely knows what they are doing. And there are maybe 5.

You won't see much of an improvement at all. I've got 80% nozzles on my stock sticks in my sd and it's really not all that much different. Granted it's a split shot in my truck not a single shot but still no significant difference.

Cuz your running canned stock injector tunes. And your hpop is shot... with correct tuning it will wake any injector up as long as everything else is up to snuff..

Listen bud, somtimes you need to spend some time reading and asking questions before you start giving advice. Ive read a few posts by you that make me feel this needed said.. not bustin your balls. Just something we all have done.. just sit back and relax and read read read... then start asking then doing.. its how we all started..

Now if you would have added that you have tunes for stock injectors and nothing for the 80% nozzles then that might have brought a different perspective to your post.. cant tell someone that there is no gain when if truly tuned the right way, there would be..

My HPOP was good for a while after I put these nozzles on. I can feel the ****tty difference with the bad HPOP.
I've also been told by idk how many people it doesn't make a huge difference.

Not worth the money on a set of stock injectors, whether it be AA's(no fuel to begin with), or AD's(why waste money on a split shot?). For another $500 you could have a set of stage 1's built by people that know what they're doing and will stand behind the work.

Although one thing i will add is if you get bigger injectors, get a bigger nozzle as well.

As in if I spend money and get say 160s to go ahead and go 160/100s or something like that ?

Yes, at least a 30%, but i'd learn more towards 80%. You can make the same amount power or even more power with a larger nozzle, but with less heat and smoke compared to a smaller nozzle. Pointless and could be harmful to get bigger injectors with a stock nozzle, and have to drag out the injection event to see any gains.

I haven't ran a 238/80 or 100% yet, but based on my experience with stock OBS injectors, AD injectors, 175/100%'s and now these 250/200%'s, i'd say they are about the perfect injector. Just my opinion.

Cuz some people dont have that extra 500 bones.. the cost to gain ratio might suck but it will still make a difference.

But if your ok with getting new injectors then yeah why not go with stage 1 or 2s?

I would have to look it up again but, dont you require some special tools to do a nozzle swap?
bare minimum a spanner wrench and a fixture to hold the injector so add that type of expense to the cost
I dont think a nozzle swap is a driveway type install (and I did my locker installations in my driveway at below freezing temps)

there is info in these videos.

if you were going to do it I would look at doing a hybrid swap while you were in there

sounds fun, post pics if you do it

Just for clarity, which do you feel are the perfect injector? The way I read it is you feel the 238/80 or 100's are the perfect ones? And on what basis do you make your recommendations?

Reason I ask is my 96 (in time) will need updated squirters and am looking for more info and real world experiences from knowledgable guys.

Thanks,

jrc

Based on my experiences and what others have said i think 238/80's would be perfect. I ran my truck stock for roughly a year then added AD's to it. Ran those for a year or so and then went to 175/100%'s. Ran those for over a year and now have 250/200%'s. I really really liked the 175/100%'s, they did everything perfect and was pretty much smoke free at all times. I ran the truck hard and rarely ever paid attention to my gauges.

These 250/200%'s aren't a bad injector, as i've raced, sled pulled, and towed a bunch with em and now that i've got the tuning dialed in it runs extremely clean. But they aren't as clean as the 100% nozzles were, and they haze more at idle. Not a big deal and doesn't bother me a ton, just a part of the bigger nozzles.

From what i've read the 80% nozzles are "crisper" than 100% nozzles, and should atomize the fuel a bit better. And i love the hybrids over stroked a-codes. So combine them and i think they'd be perfect. I'm actually planning on getting 238/80%'s for my truck as its becoming a dedicated work truck.
