My uncle has a 97 bone stock F-250 SC with 180,000 miles. The engine has never had any power mods. Recently he started it at hunting camp to let it warm up. About a 20 degree morning. It started fine and idled for about ten minutes and then it died. It will start back up immediately. It will drive fine and seems to have not lost any power. If you try to idle it dies. He has changed the fuel filter and added extra Stanadyne. I'm thinking electrical problem, that is sensor or something. Anyone have any ideas I could check out for him.

Its just like you shut the key off.

Is it as soon as you take your foot off the throttle to let it return to idle? As in no matter what it will not idle?

Just kinda thinking out loud, but i wonder if it could be in the throttle position sensor or idle validation switch.

Yes, it dies as soon as you let completely off of the accelerator pedal. I was wondering about the throttle position sensor myself. Is there a way to test it without just replacing it?
