When I changed out my injectors a few months ago, I had to remove the vacuum reservoir from the heater box in order to get the 7 injector out/replaced. I was thinkin about just splitting the heater box, but I asked my boss what he thought(I was using the shop at work) and he said to just break the glue holding the reservoir off of the heater box then re glue it. Well long story short after redoing everything I believe I have a vacuum leak. It takes quite a while for the ac(when I was using it this summer) to move from the defrost down to the vents, and the BRAKE! light stays on for like 10-20 seconds now where it used to just stay on for a short bit(I'm guessing as a bulb test). So I originally just figured I would live with it for now, until I get the time to swap my half of the heater box out with one from a newer OBS, that has the reservoir bolted on. But then I saw a SD reservoir for sale on here and was thinking maybe I could just use it and bypass that crappy glue on(94) one all together. What do you think? Sorry it's so long.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

I would not be afraid of using any kind of vacumm reservoir. I would hit the junkyard and look for something user friendly.

That's odd, as I've never seen one glued on. The vacuum reservoir on my 94 was just held to box by two (I think it's two) screws. Came right off, no glue. Cheers!

Yeah well I have read of others having the glued on reservoirs, I'm guessing it was an after thought by the ford engineers when they started getting complaints from techs having to deal with it when they mess with injectors. I'm gonna see if I can borrow a reservoir and hook it up temporarily and make sure I don't have some other issue.

Since this is my thread I guess I can hijack haha...... I also was just lookin around under the hood to see if I could get it the SD one in there and make it look decent and what not, and I decided to check the intake boots as I never looked at them when I bought it  and when I did they were all really loose like couldn't get the ratchet to click loose..... I never really had low boost numbers but I have been having trouble getting it to clean up. WOW did that make a difference. I had just written off the smoke as weak HPOP problem, but this really helped(which I know it is obvious boost leak = smoke) but since I was building boost (30lbs on my street tune) I kinda figured it couldn't have a leak. It still smokes like crazy in 4 and 5 or lugging it which hopefully a HPOP will clean that up, but I cleans right up in the lower gears, and I build boost almost instantly in second with just a puff and some haze!!!!!!

I have just the slightest bit of black outlining the crack between the driver's ide uppy and the exhaust manifold..... It isn't covering the bottom of the pickup or anything and as much as it smokes if I get on it (which sometimes I can't help myself haha) I would think if it was a bad leak it would cover the the bottom of the pickup but idk...... Can I just tighten them down a hair? I don't have money for bellowed uppies, and I don't really wanna take them apart to put in the donut bushing brass thing that I think Beans sells or somebody idk I can't remember I seen them somewhere

You might seriously want to consider replacing the uppipe gaskets. Even if you just put the factory gaskets in, you can take the old uppipes to a muffler shop and get them to expand the uppipes to be tight on a new gasket. I picked 45 hp just replacing the uppipes and gaskets and it didn't even look like much of a leak.

Yeah I'm wondering if mine aren't leaking more than I thought, or if they are starting to leak worse. I replaced the intake boots on the y after the turbo cause they were ballooning out and I think I finally blew one, and now it doesn't seem like the turbo lights as well as it was before but I don't know it could all be in my head. I need to get under it and check it again but I live in an apartment building and the "high class" residents apparently look down on me constantly working on my pickup. They prolly see it as a POS than I am constantly having to fix, but really I just love messing with it so I'm always out there checking stuff and what not. I can't wait to get a place of my own with a garage, gotta graduate school first.......
