It kind of looks like the valve is bent too.

I would think a reverse drill bit and those will come right out.

I seen one a while back that was bending push rods and popping rockers on the same cylinder, was also in a school bus. I think they blamed it on a sticking valve/valve guide.

my brain was not working @ the time I posted that ... LOL

I don't know, just seems weird that would happen at all....

..wouldn't call that a hardcore failure, LOL...

but I would guess that whomever worked on it last left the rocker pedestal bolts loose...then the 'hammering' over time fatigued the bolts and the simply broke...

spin the bolts out, replace the rocker pedestal & rocker, ensure that the lifter didn't come out of its bore...then put it back together and move on...

One of my first major jobs started out as this scenario that you guys reffered me.

Broken rocker arm bolts. Except the guy over tightened them and snapped it off during installation IIRC.

Lifted head, piston was never contacted, but when air was put in cylinder is was creeping out the valves. Lifter came apart, not the roller, the top portion came out. We still cant find the rest of one bolt. dropped pan and everything...
