What 'boot are wet'? :poke:

Pedestal o-rings are not nearly as common as many of the other places we see leaks in the valley...

I recommend spending some time and getting the top of the engine and valley SQUEEKY clean, use diesel first if its really nasty, then your favorite degreaser (purple power concentrate is my fav) and finally blast the crap out of the valley, under HPOP and turbo/pedestal with pressure washer. It may take a few doses of this treatment to get everything adequately clean in there...

Then, get a bright light and a mirror and go find where your leak is. Oh, and be sure to let us know what ya find!!!

Grimy boots arent indicative of anything really. That just means oil is getting back there somehow. It could be leaking up front and spraying back there or running back during driving.

The degrease and peek method will serve you best.

Like others have said, clean it up really well and determine where the leak is coming from, my bet would be EBPV if it is still in place. But there are quite a few possibilities.
