I have one leaking badly. It's the rear driver side. I've tried a stubby 1/2" drive ratchet and hit it with a hammer. It's so tight it stripped the plug out. Now the question is, how the heck do I get it out now? Turbo is pulled and I think I'm gonna pull the uppipes tomorrow as well. They are leaking pretty badly.

I gotta get this stuck plug out first. Any ideas? Help?

It rounded the 1/2 square out?! You could try welding a nut to it if you can get a welder back there. Otherwise pull the head or engine

Yea. Apparently the plug is made from some soft material. The new on I ordered is steel. I don't even thing you can weld to it due to what it's made of.

You may try hammering a serpentine belt tool into it if you have one? Theyre usually a little more square than a 1/2" ratchet shank

If you manage to get anything on it to try one more turn then make sure you heat it first. I have replaced the prints on them before and I couldn't get them to crack without a propane torch.

Took a air hammer and about 5 minutes worth of hammering on it before it came out. What a relief. And since i have the uppipes and everything else out to switch to a t4 kit. im gonna go ahead and do the passenger side on so i dont have to deal with it later on.

With the amount of oil it had leaked down the motor I was worried it would catch fire and it was hot enough without adding more heat under the hood so I just used the air hammer... worked really good. I'm doing the other side this weekend while everything is out the way.

Get some valve lapping compound and put a light coat on socket, the grit in the lapping compound will help the socket bite. Works great on allen bolts.
