From removing the BDP plenums! Help a newbie out here.

Passenger side, lowest forward bolt. I installed this damn thing...and don't remember it being this much of a PITA.

Pax side accessory bracket off...can't get to it from the front.

HPOP/Reservoir removed, can't access it from the valley.

The BDP plenums awesome design doesn't allow for you to slide the plenum aft...it's notched, but the hole is countersunk. Of course when I installed it, I evidently sunk the bolt lower than the countersink dimension... :cursing:

I wish I could recall how I got this thing in

Even though I'm a rookie...I pride myself on researching, and doing this crap 100% solo...but I'm at my wits end on this. I tried grinding down a wrench, but it's only like .150 worth of clearance between the front cover and the bolt.

I've got to be missing something simple here....I hope!

Thanks in advance.

The plenum is notched correct?

You should be able to loosen that bolt, break the silicone loose and slide it towards the rear of the truck. That bolt wont come out without removing the front cover or the head.

I havent worked with BDP's setup, but ive used other setups very similar. Am I missing something here?

Derek, about 5 minutes after I posted, I got it free :joy:

The "bite" I could get on the bolt with the open end wrench just was enough to be a PITA.

It is notched, but the plenum being "deeper", and the countersinks are just over bolt diameter to allow a socket....and the notch still is countersunk...I need to post a pic, there just a PITA with a bigger HPOP in there is all. I had a WOP one in there on the drivers side to clearance the S467.7 FMW for a bit...just now getting the other one in there.

There a great plenum, I just like the WOP ones better.

Thanks!

Right on bud, good to hear you got it. Some of the smallest things create the biggest problems

What do you like better about the WOP design? I would think the flat design if I an recalling it correctly would create more uneven air flow across the cylinders than we already get without any diverters in there on any of them. I have always wanted to see way the CP curves look like across an entire bank of cylinders. How uniform they are or lack there of.

TARM- I think for 99% of us, the gains achieved from more room in the valley, less conflicts with different turbos, RR fuel systems, "big oil" hpop systems, outweighs any volume balancing from the BDP style plenums.

There wasn't anything wrong with em....(they're for sale, send me a PM:)), the replacement was motivated to accomodate the TN kit/Race cover on the 67.7 FMW.

I agree with ya on cylinder balancing, and having a "induction reservoir" being important for maximum efficiency/maximizing power potential.....but I think you need a bit more volume then the BDP ones give us.

Great product, and awesome to think these old trucks have the choices we do.

No I fully agree with you just was stating some facts about our general setups and the fact that it in this case seems to be moving the wrong direction. But I fully get the needing room. I got rid of the dual married HPOP setup for that reason. It got in the way all the time for other work.

I agree we need far greater volume and honestly like you said when you get down to this low of volume especially on a force induction setup it likely has little over all effect that can not be compensated somewhere else for it.
