Overdrive light is blinking. Just started yesterday. Doesn't happen all the time but when it is blinking transmission shifts hard and I have no overdrive. Brought it to a transmission shop and there were no codes. I was on my way to school (3 hours away) and couldn't drop it off to determine the actual cause. I was thinking maybe the vss sensor, solenoid or the overdrive wire is rubbing against the steering column. I don't want to bring it to a shop just yet. any suggestions? Any help would be great!
Would also like to note that the overdrive button on the shifter never worked.

Take it someplace else. There is a code but you need the correct scanner to find it. With a good scanner you can also check the OD button. Otherwise just flip a coin, you could need a $30 sensor or $4000 transmission. Also if it's the VSS, your speedometer will be jumping around.

Had this happen, could clear the code with my scanner but would not show code on my scanner. Showed up on a snap on scanner was torque converter slipping... drove fine couldn't feel it but the computer saw it. Like was said find someone who can properly diagnose.
