So driving today my truck started running like crap. It seemed like a miss with white smoke. Hooked the Ae to it and I'm getting p1298. I have a swamps idm if that makes any difference.

I changed the cps with no change. Also getting cylinder #3 fault on the CCT.

Any help? Maybe a uvch or wiring issue.

The idm isn't even a year old.

I would pull the passenger valve cover and disconnect #3 injector while running to see if there is any difference. This will confirm if it is the reason for your miss.

So I still haven't had a chance to work on my truck due to work.

Anyways I've been doing some reading and came across some stuff swamps wrote. Basically it said if you're not getting any codes for a wiring issue of any sort it's most likely a mechanical issue.

I hate to think I'm having an injector issue since they're new, but anythings possible. Hopefully I'll get to work on it in a few days.

That is true. The PCM/IDM monitors everything electrical. If there is a problem, it will be able to see it. However, it cannot monitor the mechanical function, so no way to inform you of problems there. The closest thing would be via cylinder contribution test, but that still isn't the best and most conclusive test.

Should get the valve covers off today. I ran another KOEO test and I'm getting P0605. Did some reading and found my pcm could be bad, Or my chip. The pcm is a TDE1 and its prolly 3 years old max.

I'm going to pull my chip today and see if it runs any different.

Good news, I found the problem.

Now for the bad, I broke off two rocker arm bolts on cylinder #3.

What would cause this? I'm thinking maybe its these ****ty 910 springs? I'm hoping they just lost torque and sheared off.

Also do I have to worry about the lifter being out of the bore? I shined a light and it looked like it was still seated. I really hope I didn't cause any permanent damage.. now I have to get the broken off bolts out of the head.
