Got a buddy with an 08, 150K miles throwing P0087 and P0088. Does indeed mean the HPFP is headed south? Should we try the sensor first?? Any other advice?
P0087 and P0088 = HPFP headed out??

Replace pump with new harness/gasket and it will be good to go

It grounds out and goes to max pressure all the time.

Harness usually grounds out and blows a fuse in the BJB causing a crank and no start condition. Can also cause a lack or loss of power.

P0088 was an ongoing issue with earlier trucks, the original fix was replacement of the HPFP. Now the repair is just a reflash. All they did was widen the failure parameter a little.
Make sure the truck is at the latest calibration level, and ensure proper base fuel pressure and delivery.

Turns out the dude bought the extended warrenty and forget lol... Fords footin the bill!
