Just finished installing 250/200's, glow plugs, glow plug relay, new valve cover gaskets, new lpop, rear main, studs, springs with shims and now when I fired it for the first time it has a very bad miss and alot if whiteish smoke I am getting g a P1316 code it will run for a minute rough and then die. Brand new valve cover gaskets. I pulled them and all Injectors are plugged in and uvch is still plugged in and the tip side of the harness is good. IDM issue ? What gets me is it was fine when I pulled it in the shop to start this project

Keep firing it up if you haven't ran it for a good while to get he air out. The code is telling you the idm has a code or codes stored in it. Do a buzz test to get the idm codes to see what they are?

I know it will take alittle while to get the air out but if it was just air would it still give me that code ? I would think if it was just air it would run rough but not give a IDM code

Just see if it levels out and runs better after a few attampts if it's not improving then pull the codes. If you get the high to low side open code when the engine is cold the. Pull the sticks and send them back for repair or readjustment of the armeture.

Are you absolutely sure all injectors are plugged in good? When I did injector cups in my bro in laws excursion, I accidentally unplugged a rear injector on the passenger side when putting the valve cover back on. Same exact symptoms that you are having.

Yes all are plugged in they have been checked 3 times. Just did alittle more trouble shooting and found the whole pass. Side bank is dead. Ohmed out the valve cover gasket and its all fine. Any other advice

Can you get a hold of a different IDM to test with? An IDM from any year 7.3L will work.

If a whole bank is dead, and the UVCH OHMs out good, then I would be looking at the IDM as being the issue.

The other thing is there's tons of black and white smoke the white is more than likely the oil burning off from when j changed the Injectors could all the Blake be the IPR trying to over compensate for the 4 Injectors that aren't firing and dumping a bunch of fuel in ?

I'm going to try that. I found one to barrow so I can test it. Do IDM's just up and go bad. When I took my truck to the shop it ran perfect and then this started

It's been a looong time and my memory sucks, so if I'm off someone please correct me. I picked up an abused C&C for nothing years ago and a bank was down. After the normal rundown I unhooked injectors one at a time on the dead side and on one the other three started spitting oil. Swapped solenoids and the problem followed. If you have a solenoid shorting to ground, it could damage yours or the borrowed IDM.

Pulled all the Injectors back out and looks like 4 on drivers side are firing and only 1 on pass side is firing. Already tested all working from the IDM plug through all Injectors and all test at 2.8 ohms. Anyone think the 3 Injectors could be stuck ? I'm sending them back to the builder on Monday

Yes!!!! You hit the nail on the head. You folks have got to stop second guessing your work. The truck ran fine before you installed "new" injectors. Then walla you swapped them out and no dice. Pull them all out and send them back. I hate that you wasted all this time monkeying around thinking you messed something up when in reality all along the new injectors was the problem.....

Sorry if I sound a little bitter but I had a very similar situation. Ran perfect then swapped in new sticks. Had an idm code and ruff idle and smoke on cold starts. I did everything you just did hoping and thinking t was me that messed up he install somehow. When in reality it was just bad injectors that were rebuilt.
