2008 f350 h&s tune

truck runs fine other than acceleration.

from a stop it has a lot of turbo lag and blow black smoke and does the same trying to pass on the freeway.

it acts like its getting no air to the motor, so im thinking bad turbo actuator?

it cycles with the key ust like it should and moves easy when off.

also at times when at idle its casuing the exhaust to sound deeper.

Check the bellows on both the up pipes and the egr pipe.
They are stainless colored expansion joints in the pipes.
Hard see but look with a mirror. If you back pressure sensor and tube are good I would put money on a blown bellow.
Check to see if the back pressure changes with throttle, key on engine off pressure, etc.

Need a tuner or scanner to read it.
If after the EGR cooler delete check the block off plate for leaks. Mine didnt have soot that could be seen, but rub your hand behind one of the bellows and you got black soot on it.

That code is for the actuator performance, which means its commanding a certain position but its not actually reaching that position so it trips the code.

First thing i would do is with the key off i would make sure you can move the actuator freely, If you can't then that means either the actuator is hung up, or the vanes in the turbo are full of carbon or the ring in the housing has frozen up.

If it moves freely then the actuator and turbo are moving freely but the motor or something isnt working right in the actuator, I have an actuator i could probably send you to try out and make sure it fixes it, if it does you can just send it back.

I have yet to see an actuator actually fail so im thinking the turbo is full of carbon... but i have been wrong before...

Let me know what you find

well, it turns out i have a small exhaust leak on the back of the turbos.

its hasnt been there long enough to make a black spot so its hard to find.

I tightend up the bolts that i could get to on the up pipes and that helped.

thanks guys

Like I said the code doesn't correspond with exhaust leaks you will most likely get that codes again

Wouldnt that code come up if the vanes are trying to open further to create the back pressure the PCM thinks it needs at a certian point. I seem to remember mine had a different code like that along with ones around boost lower than expected or something like that.

No the code your thinking of is 2263 I believe for turbo boost performance which means essentially the turbo can't.achieve desired pressure

it all works as should, key on and off it goes through the full sweep.

truck runs great right now after fixing the pre turbo exhaust leaks.

Dzchey21, If I still have an issue with the actuator ill let you know. I live in texas but im in the Douglas/Casper area at least once a month.
