Hey guys. Big into silver lake sand dunes in the summer and am lookin for some extra bite on the dunes and want a set of 2 or 4 paddle tires and wheels. I know we cant fit anything less than a 17 but am pretty sure if I run a wheel with no back spacing I could fit any size wheel. Probably a 33 or 35 inch tire. If you dont have any, know where I can get any?

I posted in the classifides as well but wanted this here as well for any info on the smaller wheel/no backspacing idea as well as not everyone checks the classifides.

Thanks guys. Ryan
Bout 6 years running having the fastest diesel out there and I here theres a cummins out there with paddles that moves pretty quick. Never saw him to race last year but want to be prepared this year. I know he blew the motor up so who knows what hill have this year.

Yep thats it. He blew it up. Its around 800 horse. Right where im at with spray. Weve raced many times over the years both dunes and snow hill climbs and we go back and forth. Last year was his first year with paddles and i never saw him

I'd like to see that thing go down the drag strip! Holy crap that thing is quick. 800 HP, must be a 12 valve. Not sure what an 800 HP dodge would run in the 1/4 at that weight (guessing 6600-6800).....mid 11's?

Have you looked at racing wheels like weld? You might be alright running 35" tires. like Sand Master paddles. They come in 35" tall and fit a 17x12" wheel. i would probably go with like a 3" backspacing. If your really worried about hitting or rubing you could always take the front bumper off when sand racing.

Just contact skat trak and have them make whatever set you want on whatever tire you send them.

I think the wider paddles, though they're on smaller wheels, might be sand tires unlimited. They are pretty wide though and usually require a 14+ wide wheel for ones that can handle that much weight and power.

Probably getting paid at work to post this from my D1

Actually if that's the truck I think it is, it's an 800hp fuel only 24v still running a VE pump. I think it was in diesel world a few months back.

Not sure. Its been through a few builds. Thing started 2 different shades of blue and black. Came a long way. Sucks he blew it up pretty good though.
Garret thanks. I think paddles up front would be more of a pain than benefit.

From what I understand Lubeowner has fit a 16.5 on "American Ride" but I think there are few and far between that will work and he had to take a small amount of metal off the front calipers.. Don't know if that helps you but I was going to try and find a 16.5 for mud drags so I can run a wide bogger

I have been considering running paddles for the dunes around here. I don't know of too much that would challenge me. ;) But it would be a blast running up comp hill off a boosted launch with paddles. What is the reasoning behind not running paddles in the front? Turning is my guess.

PPE ran paddles all the way around on their shop truck back in the day. I believe Buddy's dad's 6.0 Jeep runs them all four corners as well

That's Brent's truck & it is nasty. Had the 6.4L stroker engine (bored out 5.9) & raised the compression to 21:1 to help light the big chargers. All the parts are from monster pump Mike & he did all the labor himself. He missed the DPC 2010 by a day but still did the sled pull. He scattered the bottom end early last year, threw a stock 5.9L block with his setup & cracked it shortly there after. I donno what his latest setup is but it will no doubt be nasty. The paddles he runs are custom made BFG slicks converted into paddles that come to about 35" tall.

Last June when he was limping it along with the 5.9L & a cracked block-

i would try to run a set like this. though run a larger desert trak up front that is the same size as the rear.

i bet that higher compression helped blow the bottom end.
