I plasti dipped mine. It lasted about 6 months before I got a chip. Then I found out you can order black textured plastic bars off of a 14+ and I did that.

I painted mine but it is a platnium grille I have had no issues at all with mine chipping or peeling.

Taking the grill off is pretty easy. A few screws and a couple pop tabs

Anybody who has painted over the chrome ones can you tell me how you prepped it, haven't ever painted anything and gave it a whirl. It looked awesome for about 3 months but now it's peeling and looks tacky

i have took the grill off before lol. I meant to take the 2 center bars out

My platnium grille was a pain to get apart there were a ton of tabs to pop off and there pretty hard to get to. I'm sure about the all chrome ones tho.

I had mine wrapped in brushed aluminum textured vinyl last year. No problems yet.

Would've done black OEM bars had I known about them...

I've had mine off to plasti dip them, and then to put the black ones on in their place. Once you get the grille off there's probably 5 plastic lock/clip things that you can just shove a screwdriver in and pry apart and pull them off. First time it probably took me 10 min a piece being careful and the second time a minute a piece. Really not bad, I bet the platinum is different because where your mesh is, is where the clips are.

That was my intention once my plasti dip was off until I was driving down the road and saw a white work truck with a chrome ring and black inner bars. So I went home and looked them up and ordered them.

I think they're like $70 a piece. But they are textured. If you wanted to PTM them, I would strip the chrome off of the chrome bars with oven cleaner and then paint them.
