Quick question for you fellas who have color matched tailgate handles. How do they look when painted? I have the stock black handle which is slightly textured does it look good when painted or can you still tell it has texture to it? Just wondering if I want to get mine sprayed along with all my chrome or not. Any pics would be great
Thanks

When you say a smooth paintable one would that be a chrome one that we would have to strip? I found the handles on their web store but only ones I saw were black, chrome, or a few that were kodiak brown & chrome or black and chrome stuff like that

No
They should have a primered one that is smooth and ready for paint. Just like door handles

Give them a shout would be the best bet.
Ask for oscar...dudes a rockstar. Bit hard to understand sometimes but will do anything to get you what you need.

I painted mine looks okay. I'll get you a picture this afternoon. Problem is not sure how long it will last because of all the oils and wax built up on your current textured handle. Not sure of the cost of the smooth one but I did the same for my door handles as the cost was more than I wanted to spend for smooth ones.

Haha man that's crazy. What's even more crazy is I'm still considering it because I want it sprayed when I get the front end done. Damn truck, addictions

I'm the same way, I have all the parts except the grill shell and it'll be ordered this week, then it'll be time to get rid of the chrome.

I did the same thing with my old colorado, but I eventually had problems with it chipping and had to break down and and have a stock handle smoothed and painted. If you can find a non-chromed stainless handle cover, that would work.

Yeah paint never sticks well to chrome. I can easily see replacing it in a year, if it lasts that long. It's been almost 6 months and with the exception of my nephew climbing on my truck and ripping it off (it got chipped when it hit the concrete) it has been holding up surprisingly well.

Yea that cover doesn't look bad painted up at all. I just figured I'd go ahead and get the real deal painted since I'm already bout to pay for all the rest of my chrome to be stripped and sprayed. What's another tailgate handle at that point
