I know the trans controllers are used when doing an engine swap but curious if anyone has used one on a e4od/4r100 behind a 7.3.

I like the idea of being able to completely customize my shift points and converter lockup. While this can also be done with a chip but to get it exactly like I want would mean bugging the piss out of a tuner.

There are a few threads on it around here with using it on a truck that originally came with one I'll see what I can dig up

From what I understand the pcm is good and simple enough to not require a pcs on a truck that came with a 4r to begin with sounds like you need your own tuning software from php

I think his screen name is dieselboy, he's running a 7.3 with a pcs'd 4r, maybe talk to him about it. I think its a good idea, a pcs is under a grand, an its considerably more expensive for minitaur software

I agree. Even if you didn't get the PHP software you could call a tuner and have him make adjustments until your happy. Long as they get some cash for their tuning time it could be done easily. To the OP: I know David at DI would be willing to help you get setup. He has made several trans files over the years and I was always happy with my DI tuning

Ill argue, minotaur with a burner and a definition is 650$

The PCS is 750, On top of the fact you have tons more control of your transmission.

Things you CANNOT do with factory PCM

Datalogging capabilities that COME included with the PCS software, the ability to manually select gears, Here, The delay is not the PCS ! Its me saying downshift and my buddy pressing the shift button on the laptop (he has fat sluggish fingers :p) I got something in the works to allieviate the laptop and allow the driver to shift at will ;) I can also live tune my shift strategies. To do that with the factory junk you need an emulator...

One thing you cant do with a pcs....tune the engine.

If its only $100 and you have willingness to learn the product, minotaur is awesome. I dont regret buying mine and ive never even written a file for a truck yet.
