I'm sure I read somewhere in one of the threads I was searching through where someone referred to their cylinder firing (combustion) pressure before and after mods. I'll be dammed if I can find it again, so maybe I'm just losing my mind
anybody have figures on what peak combustion pressures are on a stocker versus a 600-700 HP modded engine?
I did find in some 6.7 material where they refer to the peak combustion pressures being around 2600 psi. but I couldn't find anything on the 6.4.

cylinder pressure is not proportional to horsepower...

  • injection timing
  • turbocharger combinations, boost/drive pressure
  • camshaft, headwork
  • injector size
  • injection pressure
  • compression ratio
  • etc

..would all affect cylinder pressure

I was thinking more along the lines of the forces developed by the pressure & its affect on components like head bolts/gaskets, connecting rods etc & how much pressure can be safely developed before parts start losing the war.

I think your over thinking it. I am curious to the numbers as well but there are several trucks over 1000hp mark on stock bottom ends

completely agree!. I read a fair bit about it on 6.0s and there are way too many variables to compare between different setups and tunes. You can have the wrong tune making 350hp that will make more cylinder pressure than a spot on 600hp tune.

I dont see anyone talking about heat of the overall parts and temp of oil ect. Any worry about heat of the engine and point of ignition? I would think that would effect it greatly. Please explain if im wrong. Thanks.

pretty sure a healthy cooling sytem should keep all the temps consistent around 190-200...
