I'm looking into ficm tuners. Php has there gryphon with all 4 ficm tunes on it. IDP has there hand held unit with 2 tunes in it. I'm looking for guys who are running these tunes and which you like. The plus about php is the monitoring where as IDP is just a programmer. I like the added features but I'm looking for the better performance out of them. also the idp unit is on the cheaper side of things and is suppose to help with the cold starts. I can always add a cts for the monitoring if I'm wanting the added gauges.

If it were me I'd go php. That is who I'm planning to get my ficm tuning from. Nothing against any of the other guys. The ability to use the tuner as gauges is a nice benifit as well.

I have some questions about php's gryphon ficm tuner. Are they using the cts for it or what are they using? And can you also download custom ecm tunes onto that device or do you have to have another one? I read on there website but i was unsure exactly what it is. Thanks.

It is based on the edge evolution, the monochromatic one. It looks just like the original insight. Also as far as I know yes you can do pcm/tcm tuning as well as ficm tuning on the same device. But if recall you cannot switch from ficm tuning to pcm tuning your self or something like that

I was leaning towards IDP because of the much lower price, but then I learned there is no return to stock option with their programmer. I don't like the idea that the tune is "stuck" on there and I can't ever remove it for troubleshooting.

I like that with the php ficm tuner you have a few options on tuning. Not just mild and race. I think there are 3 or 4 or more different levels. That and I also have a evolution I bought to monitor things and read codes.

I basically asked what was the point of buying it as opposed to renting it if you can't return to stock, and they told me its so if your truck ever gets reflashed then you can re-upload the tune. I've also read a post by someone else on here who said they tried to return to stock and couldn't. I guess I'll have to call and find out for sure.

IDP's is a cheaper price which is a plus! But the gryphon offers more I guess it's a matter of what you want from what I have learned, with ECM tunning most suggest to run a mild ficm flash. The larger tunes can cause less power.

I ran IDPs Ficm tune on mild with my 190/100s and it worked better than the race. It spooled my MTW Stage 3 just fine on mild and kept things cool..... overall i loved the added peformance and quicker cold starts that the ficm tuner added! And i used the mild along with xtreme x. Eric said trucks will actually make more power on a lower ficm tune as long as it has a ecm race tune loaded. Compared to the ficm race and the ecm race....

All I'm looking for is some gain I know that the ficm helps with certain areas and could help on some mileage. Atlas 40 is all I will most likely run beings that's what my tuner recommends

We just tried to pull the moderate file from my bro's tonight with the handheld and we never could find the option to remove/replace it with the stock file. Kind of wish they would have fixed it to where you could have multiple tunes on the device so you could just switch instead of having to send it in for a re-tune.

All derails aside.. my vote still goes to IDP. The moderate FICM tune showed tremendous improvements in throttle response and fueling throughout the entire RPM range, I was impressed. All with stock injectors of course.
