Not sure where to post this question but I'll try it here.

I want to pull the cab off of my 99 super cab. The last time I did something like this I had a lift but I'm doing this one in my driveway. Can me and a couple of guys pick the cab up?

I'm parting the truck out so the doors and seats are already out of it.

Just wondering if anyone's tried this

It's pretty heavy. I'd think no unless you can find a way to lift it onto a sawhorse or something like that. I'd gess you're talking like 1000 lbs.

agreed you would have to have some big friends, plus get it high enough to walk it down along the frame

someone on here had pics of how they did theirs. They used wood blocks and jacks, I'd think you could jack up the sides of the cab down by the kick plates enough to roll out the chassis, if its rollable that is.

your buddies would have to be about 9 ft tall to lift it up.....or be the hulk an just lift it over their heads

Chit. Chassis is not roll-able. OK, I have to get this thing on to a landscaper type trailer. This would be a good time for one of those really creative ideas if you have one.

There is no bed or transmission, no rear axle, the motor and exhaust is still in there but I could remove them if I needed to. I have a cheery picker that I could maybe pick it up with... i dunno. I might have painted myself into a corner on this one?

I can get a fork lift, but not two, over here. Looks like I need heavy equipment to move it though.

I didn't get the forklifts over here. I put it on a trailer and took it to work to pull the cab.

You could probably use a nylon sling and preferably a spreader bar to pick it up with one forklift. You might need an extension to keep from rubbing on the mast. Alternately use cribbing to pick it up bit by bit with the forklift and alternate sides to get it up in the air.

Do you have a garage or anything overhead you can lift it from.

Did one in a buddys garage once without a lift. He installed some beams in the rafters and dropped some lift hooks through the ceiling. After some careful come-along-ing...the cab was swinging in the air...lol.

A saw a pic of one hanging in the air under a big A-Frame (heavy duty swingset frame). With a couple floor jacks you could jack it up. After raing it high enough. Slide a couple long 4X4's under it and block them up. Remove the floor jacks and push the truck out. Course the first thing you have to do is make it a roller.

I've used two forklifts before but you could probably get by with one by lifting one side at a time and blocking them up but it would be get time consuming. I have also seen a guy lift his crew cab with a single backhoe, so if you have access to one of them with a good operator there's another idea.

If one forklift doesn't work get a bigger forklift. No seriously though put two wooden or steel beams a little higher than the frame jack up the cab and slide pipe under the cab and roll it like the egyptians

I ended up having to get my buddy to come over with a skidsteer. We wrapped chains around the floorboards and put some extensions on it. It worked fine, but I wouldn't want to do that to something that didn't already need bodywork.
