Well just like says I am at the point of considering a swap for a fresh engine which would happen at the end of the year but theres some planning needed. Im most likely going to just buy a fresh 7.3 long block with the possibility of adding twins but still bouncing around between that and destroking. Biggest issues with that being in California I don't really know how that would go considering smog laws and what im allowed to do. Anyone know what the guide lines are for swapping to a different engine and what I would have to do keep it legal? I don't want the head ache of having to find someone to pass my truck come smog time.

Motor has to be newer than the truck it's going in to. I'd shoot for a cr cummins if that's what you're wanting, that was built before the dpf and all the newer emissions requirements.

If your looking to freshen up the engine there are the IH over haul kits and Diesel Tech in Hemet can put it together.

I'd stick with a 7.3 in it man, it'd be easiest for CA smog bs and well if you modify it that much you will need some smog guy to 'pass' you, not hard to find those though theres plenty of em lol.
