Newb to these SD's so i need some help on these power locks. Truck is an 01 F-450, crew cab, XLT. At the moment only the drivers rear door works, and it works damn near flawlessly. Both front doors don't seem to make any noise, or are very very quiet. I can hear the passenger rear actuator make some noise and it jiggles the lock, but thats it. The driver side lock switch works intermittently, while the passenger side works fine. Where do i need to start digging?

And a side note, how do i tell if this truck has RKE? When digging through the GEM setion on AE it gives me a code for the door pad, but not sure if thats just some generic thing or if it means i have it.

It's a common problem.. I took my locks apart and did the aluminum foil mod and it worked for awhile but now starting to act up again.. Search for f250 door lock mod

Whs^^. When I bought my crew cab only one door was working. I tried new actuators, but they have shorter lifetime than my modded ones have.

Are aftermarket actuators that crappy? I looked on 1aauto the other day and a new set of 4 was $90. But i'll have to pop one of mine out soon and try the foil mod.

Get actuators from ford. I replace them by the dozens. You can check rke by turning the Key on and off eight times and see if that cycles your door locks. That is how you program a fob.

Are the Ford units that much better than aftermarket? Looked em up on an on-line Ford dealer i use and it'll run me about $190 for new actuators. The truck has 270k miles so i think i'll just spend the coin and buy new ones.
