Hey guys. Customer of mine needs a turbo. Hes not really into the performance side of things but loves the truck after an egr delete and sct. I was gonna throw him on a stock charger again but noticed the powermax wasnt to much more. I want him to be able to just hop in the truck and go. Not have to worry about temps, driveability, towing, nothing. Will this work with a little bit of performance gain? He will never have a/m injectors. Thanks. Ryan

They work perfectly as a stock replacement. More boost, better mpg's, and lower temps are typically the result you get with stock fueling.

The PowerMax will work great for him. As long as he has a tuner he will be fine. Custom tunes will really make it come alive though.

the stage 1 is now at the cost of a powermax or slightly higher due to his recent revised pricing. just needs to be tuned properly. with my 175's i was having an issue with a deadspot because of the shift points but matt is working on fixing that and almost has it where i want it. stock sticks should be much easier though

What year is his truck?? If it is an early 6.0 that had the 03 turbo on it it will be fine but if it is a later build like an 05, then he will need his tunes revised. The MTW Stage 1 turbo does not need any special tuning regardless of build year.

I dont know what you are looking at but his Stage 1 is $775 plus shipping where the Pmax is $1200. How is that the cost of the Pmax?? I know he has a $400 core charge but that is refundable.

I read $775 on powerstroke.org, great deal for a drop in charger in my opinion. If my turbo can't be repaired this weekend I'll probably order one and give it a shot.

Well i think the stage 1 is it then. Best bang for the buck for him. Its an 05 excursion. He wants to be as close to stock as he can get while boosting mileage

It seems like earlier build trucks like the pmax just fine, but the later trucks tend to be laggy with it. They all do the same with MTW Stage 1.

If you don't have a core, the MTW costs about the same as the pmax. If you have a good turbo to sell, then you can usually get around 400 for it so same cost. IF your turbo is shot, the MTW is definitely cheaper. Remember, the MTW will be a used/reconditioned turbo while the pmax is brand new if that matters.

i run a Powermax on my 07. Its a good little turbo for replacing the stocker and has a very noticable whistle but he will definitely need headstuds and revised tunes. we ran mine with no tunes and could barely get it moving, it was bad. With tunes and that turbo he will blow the heads pretty quick. Transmission should be fine though i'm still on the stock one. i don't have injectors yet though

I'd watch your coolant levels pretty closely then cause it took about a month for mine to blow and about 2 months for a friend of mines. I also worked on these trucks for a while and it was a very common occurrence.
