Well with over 260k on the clock the PS pump on the 96 is slobbering enough to need filled between oil changes. It is the only thing on the truck that leaks a drop. I'm not so concerned about price of a reman but the quality. I'm going to go with an F Superduty (F-450 to some) pump so the return nipple for hydroboost will be there when I get around to that mod.
Meantime I'm thinking the best reman available may be the Motorcraft STP56RM which is about $158 with core shipped. Anybody have a better idea or a bad experince with Motorcraft?

Pumps are hit and miss. Save yourself the headache and send "yours" to Lee mfg. in California. These guys are the best. Trust me.

I used a Motorcraft reman pump with my hydroboost conversion and it's still working just fine. Check Ebay, mine came from a seller on there and I got it for under $100 still sealed in the box.

I just bought a motorcraft off rock auto.

my question is where does the white hard plastic ring go? nothing in the instructions says where it goes, I figured it goes on the pulley shaft but it doesn't fit.
is it needed and if so where the hell does it go??

The white ring probably is used on some pressure hoses on the fitting going to the pump

that's what I thought but its a little big to go into the spot on the pump, and doesn't fit over the fitting. guess i'll run it and see if it leaks
