Hey guys. For those of you running 37s and up hows yalls power steering treating you? Im running 40s on a stock pump. I cant turn unless im moving or in soft terrain. Thinking about going hydro assist from psc. Any way let me know how yalls steering is handling it. Thanks.

I had 35's when I bought it, went to 37's, swapped on some 39.5's for a short period and have been running 37's since. Mine has been like you describe since day one. Well, I can turn it, but I practically have to stand up and use my weight on the wheel to make it happen. Mine has been like that for 130,000 miles and 6 years with me on the same pump/gearbox and as far as I know it is the original unit it had from the factory. I've thought about trying to upgrade it but I don't even think about it anymore. Drives great.

None really. Once I am moving I can drive with one finger on the wheel. I've taken it on 2500mi trips cross country in the interstate. Dang near drives like a car. (Just doesn't ride like one). I mean, I can get just a hair of movement out of the steering wheel before it starts to steer the wheels, but it is what I would consider normal for any vehicle, car or truck really.

I have about 2.5" of play in mine. Im used to it though. All my vehicles since my first truck i bought when i was 16 had play. Id like to get rid of the slack but i catch myself swerving when i drive the ol ladys 09 silverado lol. Guess its natural motion for me. I know you can adjust the gear box but its risky.

Im on 35's, when I bought the truck I couldnt get the wheels to move unless I revved the engine, swapped in a new pump (and a couple of awesome boost leaks) and even with a new pump sometimes I cant turn them unless Im movin, I got about an inch of play in mine.

To all you guys w/ the hydroboost (my truck doesn't have it), put in some lucas powersteering additive... the stuff to stop squeel. I used that in my old SD and it TOTALLY changed how the power steering functions. Makes it so smooth and easy to turn, and it killed the annoying hydroboost whine too.

The PSC ram and modified box made it so I could steer my 35s while sitting still. The only down side was the slow steering afterwards. I drilled the outlet fitting on the pump to improve that for the most part.
