Not necessary.
If I don't need one up in Canada, I'd say you're safe.
Mine will start at -40 if the block heater is plugged in.

Just made it through a solid 3 weeks of single digit temps and few below windchills. I make sure to add 4oz power service and keep both tanks above 1/2 and never miss a beat. My first winter with Efuel and bowl delete!!!

That is not completely true. While windchill will not bring the temp below actual air temp it does help in removing heat and removing it more quickly.

It all depends on the situation as to whether or not windchill plays a roll.

Short story is no you will not need one in Victoria.

On both my DIY e-fuels systems I put on a heater option. Early one was an actual aftermarket heater never had to hook it up.... this was over 5 years ago guessing.

On sig truck I put on a 6.0 e-fuel pump that came stock with an internal heater, wired it up but have never hooked it to the relay to fire it up, have been in some chilly weather in the Peace River working, -40 C and never a problem. All winter diesel in Western Canada will have a cool weather additive to prevent gelling.

Now if you are considering running vegi-oil that is nuther storey..... that's why I included it, to give me latitude if I wanted to head that way...

Nodge.... I know that out on the Prairies in "Your Canada"...it can get chilly, so much so it can in fact addle one's geographic awareness. If you'd do me and jstann a favour and head outside an' climb up on yer nearest grain elevator and look a couple sections to your left.... while you're facing North....

jstann lives in VICTORIA, BC. Just so you know "BC" stands for British Columbia and can be found on the other side of the (I know scary for you to think about driving through..... ROCKY MOUNTAINS)... heh heh....

I know... I know... jstann resides in lotus land where the flowers bloom year round and he probably had to cut the grass this last weekend..... just the same.... across the big flat (in your view) over the hill to the West.... to the big bath tub (Pacific ocean) is still Canada buddy..... bwaaaahahahaaa

In fact is seems to me you stole a beeeuties blue CCSB from the island... no?

cheers.... and just funnin you buddy...

Lol, yah I didnt read his location when I posted.
Force of habit to assume most guys here are from the south.
Posting the temperature in *F is what threw me off.

I think the crew cab changed hands a couple times in a very short period.
I saw it advertised in Ft. Nelson, missed out on it, then picked it up in Grande Prarie a week or two later.
The guy who bought it sent his wife to buy it, and didn't realize it was a short box, so he put it up for sale again.
His loss! It's still under 120km.

I still have yet to see the purpose of the heater. It may heat up the fuel around the heater, but what about the fuel in the heads, lines, tank, etc...

I must be mis-informed , I have always read about putting coolers (Tarm) on the return to tank lines. I know at work some of our plants per-heat waste oil prior to burners though ...

Thats for a different issue. The fuel gets HOT when it runs through the head and everything, and heats up the fuel in the tank and then can cause performance issues because the engine is getting hot fuel. Adding coolers helps keep the fuel good and cool.

The idea of the heaters are to heat up fuel i guess if its gelled, but IMO unless your able to heat all the fuel somehow your basically pissing in the wind.

The notion of an integrated fuel heater in our northern climate (for winter) and possibly running vegi-oil is what attracted me to the 6.0 horizontal fuel conditioning module (HFCM). Ford's early ones had an internal heater in the fuel pump AND a heat sensitive internal valve such that the return fuel (from the heads) would be routed either back to the tank or by pass the tank and be routed directly back into the fuel stream again. On the later versions and I think the 6.4 version the heater was deleted and the fuel take intake and exit lines dia was increased.

The downside of the stock 6.0 HFCM as far as I know, you have to buy the filters in sets, i.e., integrated filter in HFCM and the cartridge on the block are not sold separately. Not a huge deal for me as I've set mine up with a pre-filter 20 micron Donaldson P558000 it's a spin on with integrated H2O separator and post HFCM a Cat 1R-0750 (2 micron) also spin on. Both filters a very common and have the same thread size.
