So i was looking into getting another Powerstroke so I can have a beat'er up truck to work on and have fun with. Just wondering what you guys would go with? 6.0, 6.4, 7.3? I'm more interested in getting a 7.3 but I just want something I can experiment with and test waters learning about these trucks so any insight on what engine y'all think is best would be great

7.3 for reliability I had 160/100's 38R Swamps IDM T500 HPOP loved the truck awesome, DD power, good MPG but it was time to move on.

6.0 for more power but you will have to do EGR delete HG and studs etc for a good solid "reliable" base to build power on with the right combo of parts 6.0's can hang with 6.4's.

6.4s make good power when tuned/deleted but some crack pistons in stock and tuned form that is why 6.4s get the "bad" name they have

strongest to date tuned/deleted HP wise in stock form. 550+ RWHP.

stock fuel is good up to 700 HP.

Rods/bottom end are good for 900-1000 HP.

For 6.4s to be "reliable" and a good base to build power on you gonna want to do IH HD delipped and coated pistons studs/HGs EGR delete etc.

I will say this I have never ever had a major problems with my 6.4's and I had a few over the years some I had had over 260,000+ miles no major problems.

I had my VGT and radiator go out on my F-250 but it had 250,000 miles at the time so I purchased a Midwest billet S366 kit and a Mishimoto radiator and problems solved has 270K on it now.

6.7 with a Midwest 64 mm streetmax and 15 HPFP make awesome power also.

Great insight, are there certain years when they were making the 7.3 and 6.4 that are better then other years? As far as like I have my 11 6.7 but lot of controversy over 11 models with newer ones. Just wondering if there were changes Mage in the years of other engines to maybe look for.

That's what my first thought was! Go get a 24v 5.9 and play with that but I like the 7.3 a lot too. What would you go with, a 5.9 or 7.3? As far as reliability and how far you can push the truck.
