Does anybody have any experience with these aftermarket heads? Promaxx performance out of Rainbow City, AL is the manufacturer. they advertise all the usual stuff…but how about some real world feedback.
we used a couple sets of them, they seemed to be ok, preferred those over the stock, but we have since moved to a head our machine shop gets which I am much happier with.
ok, thanks guys. could you pm the name of the manufacturer of the other heads your using? My machinist suggested one, a while back, but i didn't recognize the name.
I've used them. Valves they come with are junk. Always I've had my machinist swap the OE stuff over to them with a fresh valve job and never had a problem.
i used the new improved heads from Engine tech. Worst heads i ever seen. They added so much cast to strengthen the head that they reduced air flow to the point, you could feel a power reduction, and additional turbo lag. Nothing else was changed.
I talked to them today. Sounds like they have been doing them awhile. They did say that the heads are machined, pressure checked, etc, by them (promaxx). The castings themselves come from China or somewhere, which truth be told, all heads probably come from there anymore. May get a set and see how they are. Thanks for the responses, guys.
Use the Ford reman'd heads. UCF Machine builds from Ford heads....MPD builds from Ford heads. Not sure who else builds/sells reman'd Ford heads..but don't buy Chinese casted heads! You'll most likely regret it down the road. But I know UCF Machine will not touch or even look at a Chinese casted head for rebuilding...too many problems with them they say!
