Hey guys,
Well I'm still learning about the ficm tunes. A lot of guys like them some don't like them. I'm looking into some pros and cons of this. mainly to decide if they are worth getting and who is doing a good Job at making them. Also do they hurt the ficm? And is running the stock 48v okay to tune? Do tunes have to be revised to run one?

never heard anyone say that they don't like their tuned FICM. Your truck will start better, have better throttle response, less turbo lag, more hp and possilby more MPG's.

Running PHP's FICM tuner on my 48v and I love it. A lot more responsive down low, and starts better in the cold.

I think it comes down to what size injectors you have. Large injectors don't seem to work well with Bill's aggressive FICM tuning. I really like my IDP Mild FICM tune with my 190/100s which is about like Bill's Atlas 40 FICM tune but I didn't like any of his other FICM tunes so I just sold my tuner and stuck with my IDP flash. Either way, I am glad I got my FICM tune.

Kinda like to have the added gauges... And then by buying the programmer I could figure out which one i liked the best. How do they work with other tuners such as gearhead?

I have the Hercules ficm tune on mine. My truck does not get that hot. Iv towed a 26' enclosed for a while with it also. It's a lot more responsive, I couldnt say it added a whole lot of hp. I dont trust my butt. And I didnt see any better fuel milage like other people said they got.

i do power hungry ficm tuning in house at our shop, ive done about 15 trucks lately, no one has had a bad thing to say, everyone loves it, typically 3-4mpg improvement. huge improvement in torque and mid range response. engine uses a lot less boost to accelarate and cruise.

I find that very hard to believe

first hand experience, I didnt get 3-4 better hand calculated. First few days I was getting on the throttle more than normal "testing it out". So I waited a little while to check and was back to driving normal. I wasnt to worried about that though, If I was I wouldn't be lifted on heavy wheels and tires. Did it convince me even more to get the tuning done? Yes who wouldn't want to see better milage. Did I call up complaining that I didnt see the improvements? No. I will say It will get up out of its way a little better.

stock nozzle trucks, theyre great.

Larger nozzle trucks, it doesnt work out so well, all they do is add un-needed pulse width and creates heat and smoke. Thats what I experienced with Bills gryphon, so I just use it for monitoring. With the right person playing behind the computer, you dont need ficm tuning at all, however there are some benefits to be had from it, just needs to be fine tuned. Im hoping Bill will send me a custom file to load up shortly that is specifically for my nozzles.
