I've pulled more than enough 7.3 motors in the last few yesrs, but NEVER on a standard transmission truck. Does the transmission have to come out with motor? Can I just support the zf5 with either a jack or ratchet strap under it like on an auto? How hard will it be upon re installation?

About the same as pulling an auto. You'll need a clutch alignment tool, for reinstall, though. The alignment pins on an auto are longer than the manual pins, as well.

I pulled my trans when I did mine its only a couple extra steps to drop it and its one less thing to worry about. I think with it in place the oil pan will hit the crossmember before the input shaft clears the clutch.

I pulled my ZF5 in my driveway. I removed the top access cover and went thru the door with a Cherry picker. I drop the rear mount first and lean the drivetrain back to the rear for straight access to the bolts. Piece of cake walk in the park.

I've got a sledge hammer in the bed of my truck. Oil pan isn't that thick...

Just take a torch to that Pos zf LOL

Believe me, I want to more than you know lol. I was soooo close to buying a bts e40d the other day, but I actually thought ahead for once in life and decided I'm tired of living in an apartment, and so is the wifey, and there just isn't enough space for a 2 year old. I'm gonna buy a house before I make anymore major purchases for this turd. That is unless something major breaks. Buying a house by 22 is a big goal, but I'm gonna make it happen!

I did it! Just be prepared for a ton of paperwork and ridiculous amounts of money wasted on stupid fees and inspections :/

Hmm 22. Hell I was burning money faster than it was coming in when I was 22. LOL good for you keep up the positive attitude. Your not gonna win any races with the zf5 but it shouldn't leave ya stranded either.

MAKE SURE it has a garage big enough to work on the truck.

When I bought my 1st house @ 20 the garage was JUST big enough to park a reg cab pickup, but not work on it. Had to do everything out in the gravel drive, boy did that SUCK. Hell, my 4 car garage now is not even big enough:doh:

Haha that's a fact! A garage was a deal breaker when I was house shopping. Working in mine as we speak actually. My brothers 800 hp cummins and my Saab and Duramax
