Wasnt sure if this went in tech or aftermarket...So the motor is getting pulled to do headstuds(dont ask, the mechanic just prefers to pull instead of lift cab). The truck is a 2008 Job 3, 158k miles when I bought it last year and almost 170k on it now, no issues except for the trans, which is the main reason for going to the shop. My goals with it are to keep stock fuel and maximum streetability, but hitting the track and sledpull whenever I want.
For sure items on the to do list are:
Headstuds/gaskets
EGR delete w/ elbow
Coolant filtration
OEM Oil cooler(I plan to install coolant filter myself and flush the system before taking to shop.)
Only mods thus far are H&S MiniMaxx and DPF delete. I'm looking for any "must do" items while the motor is out, budget is moderate, so nothing like pistons or turbos, and nothing I can easily do in my garage.
I'm thinking I should do:
Rear main
Idlers/tensioners
Thermostat
Water pump?
Not sure if I should go ahead and do HPFP or injectors. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome!!
