Alright would like some info on how you drive to get fuel mileage towing. I've always got 5-9 towing. I'm going to pick up my new trailer in Idaho next mouth. It's a 28' long 9' tall 4' V that will be around 4000 lbs.

I know I'll pull 9 mpg, what are the tricks. Truck is healthy, speedo is dead on, checked by mile markers on the interstate and GPS tires are set at 75 psi.

I know I will need to slow down, not sure what the best speed is. Never have.

Thanks.

Speed plays the biggest part in fuel mileage. I get 9 mpg's with cruise set on 75. Last weekend, I was waiting on a buddy to catch up. Had the cruise set on 60 and was getting over 12 mpg's. After he caught up, we kicked it up to 75- 80 and I watched the fuel mileage fall like a rock. I was grossing just under 22k.

I tow with a 03 f350 6.0 3.73 rear gear and at 60 I get 11mpg towing a 14.5K fifth wheel and an 18ft. boat, about 18K total. If i speed up to 65 or 70 I get 9.5 to 10mpg over 70 it drops to 7.8 or 8.
