When I bought my truck it came with a superchip 1705 tuner ( 94.5-03) trucks. Has like 3 downloadable tunes I believe. Seems to act pretty good on my truck. Also, I'm not going for big power. All it does is pull a horse trailer. Over stock, the "tow safe" tune is pretty noticeable. I have a edge insite ( for gauges only ). My question is, is this a all around safe tuner?. I put a TS-6 pos. in my superduty and it's superior by far. But this superchip was free and not going to put a TS in it for awhile. What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Kyle

Yea I would run it. But custom tunes are better, my super chips worked from the day I bought it until I put the dp tuner on. To answer the question yea run it but custom tunes are better obviously

Somewhere down in Texas..
I ran one for a long while...same deal as yours...didnt come on the truck, mine was beyond stock and owned by like a 80 year old man. I got a 1805 from a friend for dirt cheap and ran that for about 50k miles. I had no probkems and towed heavy in the 90 horse tow setting for a couple years just using my gauges and common sense. No issues whatsoever. I also ran a ts chip with Matt's tunes after i got rid of the superchips. In all honesty i was happy with both, and wouldnt hesitate to buy another superchip tuner if it was dirt cheap. Ive heard horror stories about their timing tables down low though.

Thanks Jason that's the info I was looking for. I actually like the way it pulls when in tow tune. At leAst it's better than stock. I watch my gauges so not to worried. I too have heard stories about the timing but a figure the truck has 290,000 miles and most likely has had it on for 100,000 and it runs just fine.. I'll leave it. Just wanted some input from people who has ran them.. Thanks again

Had mine handed down from my dad. He had it on his obs and when he git injectors it was just too much fuel ( he doesn't want a tune ) so he gave it to my. I ran it till the day I got my ts. I did lose a tranny but that was probably my driving like a 19 year old

I plan on getting a TS style chip in the future.. Mainly because I hate waiting like 3-5 mins for it to download.. I'd much rather turn a dial. But for the price it was and how good it works I'll run it. plus, before I had my insite I could use it for a code reader. That's another thing that is nice about it.
