Have any of you guys ever had the steering column mess up from grabbing the wheel and pulling yourself up with no steps on the truck? Me and dad were discussing this and I am curious

I have yet to have that problem, but I have noticed a very slight movement in the wheel recently when I grab it, but no play when driving it. Been lifted and using the wheel for about 80k miles now

The only thing with mine now is the ignition is getting worn out and the key doesn't ding any more. I'm hoping to find a good deal on a set of steps.

I have always had steps. The IH garage that did our fleet maintenance in PA warned me not to grab the steering wheel due to a bunch of plastic in the assembly that wears quickly when it is used as a grab handle. I was also informed they did a lot of those repairs (commercial applications) and it wasn't cheap.

I've always heard it would cause problems. I had a lifted silverado that I put 60k miles on and grabbed it every time in and out. Granted I was only 5'9'' 140 at the time but still I think it can cause an issue with bigger guys, but I would just be conscious of not putting a lot of weight on it. If you hang all your weight on any part of your truck you're asking for something to break.

Now I've got amp steps and can walk up without putting my hands on anything.

I had N-fabs, and now have the AMPs. Just spend the extra money. It just makes getting in sooooo retardedly easy you wouldn't believe. I haven't got any complaints about how tall my truck is and how hard it is to get in since I've gotten them.

i will most likely be getting them when i get the money. I love the no step look, just not the functionality. especially with having to park in a tight parking spot in school, i can rarely open my door all the way so steps will make it alot easier.

I always grab mine and have on every truck since every truck I've ever owned has been lifted at least 4 inches and the first thing I take off is the steps. I'm 218lb's and have yet had a problem with one. I have always questioned it and would assume if I was in and out all day at a job like a meter reader from consumers that it would wear quickly. I just hate the look of steps although it sure makes it easier.
