Questions on tuners/tuning

I have a Torque Technologies T1 on my 12 F350 and now know that any support from them will have to come from a foreign IP address due to EPA. I see a lot of people coming up with custom tunes using EFI Live and wondered if those tunes are a vast improvement over the T1. Most have said the T1 was the closest thing to a mini max so I assume I have a pretty good tuner but if I can make it better then I'd look at selling the T1 and getting SCT or the like so that I can either purchase custom tunes or create my own. T1 doesn't have pyro so that is a downside especially when pulling heavy loads.

Are the options going to give enough gain, even if just versatility and not power, to make the purchase of a new tuner @ $1k worth it?

Totally worth it plus a SCT or Mini Maxx will give you even better gains with additional mods.

Are SCT and H&S the only ones that have custom tunes? I want to be sure I get something that is going to be programmable and fairly easy to update.

H&S is the most versatile. There will be no need to update it as the software has been lined out for a LONG time now. But, updating an H&S is far simpler than updating an SCT. Loading custom tunes to an H&S is far simpler than loading custom tunes to an SCT.

So out of the 3 which is getting the most attention and custom tunes out there? I plan on putting on a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, and more fuel at some point so I can get the most out of it without grenading the trans.

H&S will always have the broadest group of available tuners because it is essentially an open-source platform.

Big name tuning outfits and small time individual enthusiasts alike can tune on it. You can even tube on it yourself.

With SCT, there are only a couple people tuning on it, and with S partan, you only have their tunes.

Every platform has it's pluses and minuses, but from a pure standpoint of tuning flexibility, you can't beat H&S

If your truck is a 12 and you plan extensive mods-h&s and don't look back.
